Many members of our Newark Airport parking facility know that traveling with kids can be difficult. That’s why we’ve put together a guide to help you fare the air more smoothly:
It’s helpful to book a non-stop flight so you don’t have to worry about keeping your kids busy during layovers.
Print out all of your plane tickets before you arrive at the airport and be sure to arrive at least 2 hours before a domestic flight and at least 3 hours before an international flight. This can be a long time for kids to wait, so check to see if the airport has a play area you can take advantage of.
Before you go through security, explain the process to your kids so that they aren’t scared of the security members or the luggage scanners.
Bring things to do: When it comes to kids, entertainment is the key to passing the time. Bring along magazines, hand-held games, coloring books, stickers, toys, and anything else that will take their mind off of waiting to land.
Prepare for messes: Prepare for messes by making sure you have enough wipes, napkins, hand sanitizer, and any other products that can help keep your kids clean.
Pack snacks: You’re allowed to bring snacks in your carry-on luggage, so take advantage of it. Pack easy-to-eat foods like dry cereal, veggies, dried fruit, chips, pretzels, and whole fruits.
Encourage naps: Encourage a family nap, which will not only allow you time to rest, but will keep your kids occupied and quiet until you land.
