8 Great Travel Apps for Your Next Vacation

travel apps

Today, technology can do way more than just keep you connected while you’re on vacation. It can also help you plan it out and make things go smoother. If you haven’t tried many travel apps yet, here are a few of our favorites from our EWR parking company:

Skyscanner

Like Kayak, Skyscanner searches for the most affordable and best flight options. It gives you a full month of prices with color coding so you can see which dates are the cheapest as well as top deals for various destinations. In addition, the app will use your flight information to search for hotel and car rental options.

Available for: iOS, Android

Airbnb

Airbnbs have become nearly as popular as hotels, so having the Airbnb app can help you easily find a place to stay in nearly any major city in the world. You can also book your reservation and communicate with your host right through the app.

Available for: iOS, Android

Tripit

Tripit lets you be your own travel agent and plan out all the details of your trip. The app lets you search for restaurants, lodging, car rentals, and more, then create an itinerary of the things you want to do and see. You can even send the itinerary to others and access it offline to avoid data and roaming charges.

Available for: iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone

Hotel Tonight

Whether your flight is delayed, or your travel plans fall through, or you simply love to plan spontaneously, Hotel Tonight is a great travel app to have on hand. The app lets you search for last-minute hotel rooms for nearly any destination. Best of all, some hotels offer last-minute hotel rooms at discount prices.

Available for: iOS, Android

PackPoint

No one really likes packing for a trip – especially when you’re not sure what to pack. With PackPoint, you can get a customized list of vacation essentials based on your destination, weather, and any activities you may have planned. This way, you won’t have to worry about making a list or forgetting anything.

Available for: iOS, Android

Uber

If you still haven’t tried Uber, it’s worth checking out – especially if you’re traveling to an area that doesn’t have a lot of taxis. The service is available in more than 500 cities and lets you schedule a ride at the touch of a button. It also lets you track where your driver is at all times and lets you rate the driver after your ride.

Available for: iOS, Android

Citymapper

This app comes in particularly handy if you’re traveling to a major city that offers public transportation. Citymapper lets you connect with ride-sharing services, gives you the fastest way to arrive at your destination, and lets you check subway and train times offline. You can even subscribe to specific bus or train routes and be alerted when it’s time to get off.

Available for: iOS, Android

Skiplagged

For a different way to find the cheapest airfare, try Skiplagged. After you input your “to” and “from” destinations, the app will search for flights that land at your destination and flights that layover at your destination. This gives you the opportunity to take advantage of hidden-city fares.

Available for: iOS, Android

Don’t forget – we have our very own app that can help you make EWR parking reservations faster and easier! You’ll also be able to view your receipts, request pickup from the airport, view your points balance, and more. Available on: iOS, Android
