How to Get Around
Like other big cities, Newark has plenty of ways to get around the area. Here, our EWR off-site parking company shares the variety of trains, buses, light rails, and taxis available to locals and visitors.
NJ Transit is New Jersey’s main source of public transportation. It provides a variety of buses, trains, and light rail options throughout Newark and its surrounding areas. NJ Transit also branches out to several nearby destinations in New York and Philadelphia. These include Penn Station and Philly’s SEPTA service. Users can purchase one-way tickets, weekly passes, monthly passes, and more. Ticket sales are available at certain ticket offices, through NJ Transit’s MyTix app, or onboard the train, bus, or light rail. With more than a dozen rail lines and five different bus routes, NJ Transit makes it easy for locals and visitors to get around.
Amtrak (short for “American track”) is a passenger railroad service that provides transportation throughout the U.S. and parts of Canada. This company services 15 stations throughout New Jersey, two of which are in Newark. You’ll find Amtrak at Newark’s Penn Station and also at Newark Liberty International Airport. In addition, NJ Transit provides access to both of Philadelphia’s Amtrak stations and to New York’s Penn Station. Riders can purchase single rail tickets at the station or rail passes in a variety of time lengths. There are also ticket discounts for kids, seniors, military personnel, and more.
If trains and buses aren’t your thing, Newark has a variety of taxi services that can get you where you need to go. Fares will vary based on the type of taxi service you choose and where you’re going. At our EWR off-site parking company, we recommend these popular taxi companies:
