In 1925 Huff Daland Dusters, the predecessor of Delta, was founded in Macon, Georgia as a commercial agricultural flying company. Shortly later they moved to Monroe, Louisiana where at the time they were the largest privately owned fleet in the world. They provided crop dusting services all over the country. In 1929 Delta operated its first passenger flight and continued those operations throughout the 1930’s. In 1942 Delta helped contribute to the war effort by modifying more than 1,000 aircraft as well as training Army pilots and mechanics. They officially became Delta Air Lines, Inc. in 1945 and to this day remain one of the most frequently used airlines in the country.
