Situated along the Passaic River, Riverfront Park features baseball diamonds, soccer fields, running tracks, picnic tables, and playgrounds. In the summer, there are free movies and boat tours on the river.

Branch Brook Park
Known for having the largest amount of cherry blossom trees in the world (next to Japan), this park is the place to be in spring. There are also pathways for walking and biking, playgrounds, tennis courts, and athletic fields.

Thomas Edison National Historical Park
This park preserves the large laboratory and Glenmont, the estate of the famous Thomas Edison. Visitors can tour the laboratory and learn more about the American inventor who began his career in Newark.
