Touch, Look, and Learn
Museums are a great way for both children and adults to learn. If you’re interested in visiting a museum as a Newark local or a visitor, our Newark Airport parking company suggests one of these great locations:
If a museum is on your to-do list, why not visit the largest museum in New Jersey? The Newark Museum was founded in 1909 and features a variety of art and science exhibits. Here, you’ll find art collections from the Americas, Asia, Africa, and the ancient world as well as contemporary art. It’s also home to the Dreyfuss Planetarium that features interactive galleries, special events, and activities for kids. The museum is open all year round (with the exception of major holidays) and offers free admission to Newark residents.
The New Jersey Historical Society
The New Jersey Historical Society was founded in 1845 and currently operates at a location on Park Place in Newark. While members carry out their operations here, visitors can enjoy two floors of exhibits that include a variety of historical artifacts. You’ll find a library of literature such as rare books, documents, and pamphlets, as well as a museum of costumes, furniture, paintings, ceramics, prints, glass, tools, and more. The NJHS museum and library are open year-round (with holiday hours) and offer low-cost admissions per person.
Liberty Science Center
If you love astronomy, don’t miss a trip to the Liberty Science Center. The state’s first major science museum features the largest and most technologically advanced planetarium in the Western Hemisphere. Here, you can enjoy a full-dome view of the night sky and distant galaxies during one of the center’s shows. In addition, the LSC has a variety of interactive exhibits where you can discover music, animals, wildlife, and even the human senses. The center is open all year round and has several admission combinations that our Newark Airport parking company highly suggest.
