A Few Late-Summer Vacation Ideas

EWR Airport parking

There’s only one more month of true summer before the school year begins, and we at our EWR Airport parking company know many of you still want to get away. That’s why we’ve put together this list of affordable, late-summer vacations that you can take before fall sets in.

Washington D.C.

This is a great place to go with the family and can easily be done on a budget. Almost all of the museums and monuments in the area offer free admission and there’s something to interest everyone. If you plan on flying in, head to Baltimore Airport (BWI) instead of directly going to D.C. and you’ll save some money. Plus, temperatures in Washington D.C. will continue to be warm through September.

Portola, California

If you’re looking for a getaway, head to this little town about 45 miles from Reno, Nevada. The town is surrounded by serene lakes, golfing, and historic things to do (like the Western Pacific Railroad Museum). You can also head to the casinos in Reno or take about an hour drive to the capital of Nevada, Carson City.

Yellowstone National Park

Many people plan their National Parks trips way in advance, but there are a lot of last-minute deals at Yellowstone. The park spans three states (Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming), so you have a large area to choose from when it comes to where to lodge. The park is home to dozens of hiking trails, over 60 species of mammals, and incredible scenery.

Long Beach, New York

You can go on a great beach vacation and save money at Long Beach. Head to tthe Nickelson Beach Campground with some tents or an RV and you won’t have to worry about paying for a hotel. The campground is just a walk away from the beach.

Las Vegas, Nevada

When you think “Las Vegas,” you may not think “affordable,” but if you really want to let loose and experience Sin City, you can find great last-minute deals that book your flight and your hotel together. Once you get there, you can also find cheaper-than-normal meals at smaller hotels or off the main strip.

Mackinac Island, Michigan

Michigan is known for its beautiful lakes and every year, hundreds of people head to the state for a lakeside vacation. Mackinac Island, however, isn’t one of the most popular spots, which makes for a nice getaway. If you stay in Mackinaw City, you’ll only be a half-hour ferry ride from the island, which boasts Victorian homes and a beautiful state park.

If you’ve decided to head to one of these great locations and are flying out of Newark, make a reservation with our EWR Airport parking facility. We’ll look after your car and you can rest easy.
