The holidays are a wonderful time to spend time with your family, but have you ever wished you could forgo tradition and have everyone take a vacation instead? At our EWR parking company, we’re all for mixing things up and checking out new destinations, so we’ve made a list of the best places to spend your holiday:
For a taste of cultural Christmas, head to San Miguel de Allende, where you’ll enjoy theatrical festivals, live music, dancing, and more. If you’re looking for a more resort-like beach experience, check out Playa del Carmen and relax on palm tree-lined beaches with turquoise waters and coral reefs. Afterwards, you can explore the hip food and bar scene.
Nearly any island in the Caribbean is a great destination during the holidays, but our EWR parking members suggest heading to St. Maarten, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts, or Grand Cayman. You’ll not only find great resorts that offer holiday specials, you’ll also enjoy the culture of the island and the friendly locals.
For a holiday away from home, head to the capital city of Prague in the Czech Republic, where you’ll find beautiful Gothic and Baroque architecture, cobblestone streets, scenic riverside cottages, and an overall cozy atmosphere. Head to a holiday market, see a ballet or opera, or simply stroll through the many art galleries and gift shops.
Charleston has been continuously voted one of the best small cities in America, so why not take a trip there this year? The charming area in South Carolina offers plenty of historic landmarks and memorials, Victorian-style architecture, family activities, and the friendly hospitality that comes with any southern city.
If you’ve never been to Amsterdam and you’re looking for a romantic getaway, head there for the holidays. The Netherlands city’s tourist attractions are open year-round and every year, locals enjoy the Amsterdam Lights Festival. In addition, you’ll find beautiful cobblestone streets, classical music performances, ice skating, and more.
Chicago may not have crossed your mind, but it’s a great city for celebrating Christmas. In December, the Windy City’s Magnificent Mile is covered in holiday lights and locals celebrate with a huge outdoor Christkindlmarket festival, a handmade Christmas tree, and a Winter WonderFest at Navy Pier, complete with an indoor skating rink and holiday amusement park.
From mid-November to April, Costa Rica experiences its dry season, which means 70-degree days, 12 hours of sunlight, and cool, coastal breezes. This getaway is perfect for beach lovers and nature lovers alike, as Costa Rica offers active volcanoes, rain forests, exotic animals, and an array of outdoor activities.
